Prior to using the Seal Platform, it is first essential to understand two concepts:

• Data Types within the Seal Platform, and

• User Modes

Seal Data Types

The Seal platform organises data using three core elements: Types, Templates, and Instances.

Types

Types are the foundational elements that defines what kind of content can be created.

Each Type has a unique name and icon, and specifies what content it can contain — for example, files, charts, and/or text.

Templates

Templates are pre-configured variations of a Type that make it easier to create standardised schemas and content.

Templates are useful when you want to create multiple Instances that share the same starting point or format.

Instances

Instances are the actual data you work with day-to-day. They can be created either from a Type directly or from a Template.

Each Instance contains specific content (like a document, chart, or file)

Seal User Modes

There are two main modes in Seal: Build and Operate.

Both building and operating are crucial components of the system, ensuring that information is systematically captured and utilised effectively.

Build

Building is the processes of creating a standardised format that provides a framework for capturing and organising information about a particular workflow.

As a builder, you create forms and templates for your team to fill out.

Operate

Operate means to carry out an action. It refers to the process of execution → you execute what has been built.

As an operator, you fill out forms and templates.
