Modes

Manage mode

Manage mode is for building the platform structure—creating types, templates, workflows, and review processes. Users with manage permissions can create and edit types, templates, and instances. They can use the platform in either manage or operate mode.

Operate mode

Operate mode is for executing the workflows set up by managers. Users with operate permissions can create and edit instances, and respond to review requests. They cannot access manage mode.
More fine-grained permissions can be introduced on an individual template level using training requirements.

Permission levels

There are three main permission levels in Seal:
Permission LevelDescription
Viewer- View entities - Respond to training requests Note that the default level for all users is a Viewer.
Operator- All viewer permissions, and: - Executing entities (create, edit, review and archive records, including test instances) - Add and remove tags from entities - Run scripts - Create, edit and remove workflow tasks
Manager- All Operator permissions, and: - Create and edit training requests and view the training management page - Create, edit and archive Type entities - Create, edit, review and archive Template entities - Create, edit and remove views, view groups and tags
Permissions are set on the individual user when their account is created. They can then be edited any time by Organization Admins.

Admins

There are two admin levels: Organization Admins (manage users, settings, and permissions) and System Admins (Seal support staff with additional access for troubleshooting).

Only Organization Admins can manage user counts within the organisation. If you’ve reached your user limit, contact [email protected] to add more users.

User groups

User groups are for organizing users—they’re separate from permissions. Users can belong to multiple groups, and review requests can be sent to entire groups. Organization Admins manage user groups from the Settings page.
